Grocery Menu...a little late

So my normal grocery budget is $150 a month. I went over this month due to I bought alot more fruits and vegetables and things for healthy snacks. With the amount we spent at gas stations and drive-thrus last month, I decided we needed to have better things that were ready-to-go out the door for us. We got these great re-usable cups at walmart in their summer section. They have gel in them and you can freeze them. They have screw on lids with straws. Those have saved our lives this month. We feel them up before we leave and we don't stop at gas stations. YAY! I even bought the kids their own, also. We always grab snacks as we go out the door and we have not visited Wendy's or Md's very much this month. I am very happy about it all. So I guess it's OK, that we went over a little on the budget when it has SERIOUSLY saved us money in the long run. Here are the meals.

-turkey burgers, bacon/ranch pasta                                                         -hobo burgers, garlic bread
-pizza, salad, garlic bread x2                                                                  -meatballs, mashed potatoes,
-Italian bow tie bake, salad                                                                        green beans
-stroganoff, steamed vegetables                                                           -ponderosa (Tuesday family night)
-breakfast x2                                                                                           - spaghetti, salad, broccoli
-bratwurst, corn                                                                                       -grilled chicken, garlic potatoes,
-beans, cornbread                                                                                      broccoli
-tacos                                                                                                       -hot dogs, fries
-sloppy joes, fries                                                                                     -ham/vegetable casserole
-tuna casserole, salad                                                                               -fish sandwiches, peas
-hamburgers, fries                                                                                    -stir-fry, garlic bread
-hamburger helper (homemade), garlic bread                                          -memorial day cookout
also leftovers a couple times

*snacks* pudding (of course), strawberry cereal bars, chocolate & peanut butter granola bars, apples, strawberries, grapes, clementines, bananas, popcorn, chex mix (pretzel sticks, marshmallows, Cheetos, honey-nut cheerios cereal), cucumbers, carrot sticks, broccoli, yogurt.

Total Budget: $150.00
Total Spent:   $222.00
Overage:        $72.00
Spent last month in gas stations and drive thrus:  $220.00
Total savings: $148.00

Last month- I spent $150 on groceries and spent $220 in drive-thrus, Md's. From what I spent total last month and take what I spent this month at the grocery store (including my overage) I've saved myself $148.00 by keeping on-the-go snacks and great cups for drinks. YAY! I'm excited. How have you done this month? I'm challenging you, if you haven't tried this, you need to try it. It's so well worth it. Let me know how you did. I would LOVE to know.

Thats great that you are saving all that money! I almost always pack granola bars, snack mix and etc. when we are out and about. It really does save :o) And drinking water is also a budget saver ;o) Keep on saving! Dave Ramsey would be proud! lol!
